What is Bone Growth Stimulation?

The Spinalogic bone growth stimulator is a non surgical treatment to help with healing after spinal fusion surgery.  The stimulator uses a very low-strength combined magnetic field (CMF) electrical stimulation to activate the body's natural healing process.

You will not feel the CMF therapy during the 30 minute treatment.
A recent study demonstrated that patients that were treated with electrical stimulation such as CMF, had significantly higher odds of fusion.  In another study comparing available bone growth stimulator devices, the CMF stimulator demonstrated the fastest time to fusion out of all stimulators.

Why Does Fusion Speed Matter?
It's a race against time.  Their is significant need to reduce the time it takes for your spinal bones to fully fuse.
It can take up to 12 months for bones to fully fuse.
The longer it takes, the higher the potential of risks such as hardware failure.
If this hardware failure happens before union, it may lead to pseudoarthrosis and the need for more surgery.

Covered by Insurance

Bone Growth Stimulation is covered by Medicare and most major commercial insurance companies.  Typically, insurers will cover bone growth stimulation for multiple level surgeries, revision surgeries, and in scenarios where a previous surgery isn't healing as expected.
